Defence (FD&D) 
Commonly known as F.D.&D. cover (Freight, Demurrage and Defence) this facultative insurance enjoys an increasing interest amongst Shipowners, Managers and Charterers. They can be exposed to a number of liabilities and losses for which they do not have insurance cover, for example duties under charterparties and during the sale and purchase of ships.

FD&D insurance does not provide insurance for these risks, but covers the reasonable costs and expenses for legal and technical assistance to defend or prosecute a wide range of uninsured claims and disputes.
